Advice For Walkers

Coming By Car

The postcodes of the start point in our walk details are computer generated from the OS map reference. However a number of our walks start in a relatively unpopulated area and the start point could be miles from the nearest postal address. Therefore reference to a map is essential. The walk details on this website include an expandable Ordnance Survey map of the start point. You may also find the What3Words link useful for pinpointing the exact location.
Lifts may be available for non car drivers. Please contact a committee member to enquire.

Coming By Train

Please check train times with National Rail Enquiries, 03457 48 49 50 or www.nationalrail.co.uk.

General Advice

Take special care when walking on roads.
Do not approach farm animals unnecessarily.
Keep an eye on the people behind and in front of you to ensure that the group keeps together.
If you would like to bring a dog on one of our walks please check with the leader before coming. Some routes may not be suitable. You can find the leader's contact details in the walk details. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and put on a lead through farmyards, fields with livestock or growing crops.
Do not consume your own food or drink on pub premises. Remove muddy boots or cover with plastic bags.
Consider carrying a basic first aid kit.
Wear suitable clothing and footwear.
Walks normally take place whatever the weather but, if there have been Met. Office warnings that travelling may be hazardous, it is for the leader to decide whether the walk should go ahead.
Though walking is inherently one of the safest outdoor activities, no activity is completely without risk and it is your responsibility to behave sensibly and to minimise the potential for accidents to occur.
